I'm a traveler not a tourist

So many month since I have not moved my figure to another country, since I did not spent hours breathing another culture's air. 4 month since I am home and I'm happy about it...but sad also. Sad because I feel the world is not mine anymore, it belongs to those who's turn came to make the bold step and discover it.
In the meanwhile, going back to the places I've been, the people I met, I realized that I am one of the lucky ones, cause I went there and enjoyed  the journey as a traveler, not a tourist.
Just to define the meanings, absolutely from my point of view, the traveler gets involved in the journey, while the tourist sees it somehow from outside. The traveler takes a bus and doesn't hire a car, goes by train or bike not by plane. The traveler eats the traditional food from the food stall on the sidewalk not from the restaurant, he learns a few words and impresses the locals, dresses like them and sings their songs, while the tourist prefers pasta and jeans wherever he goes. The traveler, by default, travels a lot inside the journey to discover more and more places, does not lay on the beach and plays golf all day. He looks at the inhabitants as if they are his brothers and sisters, not locals. He walks in nature and gets impressed by every living piece, even though he saw it before. The travelers feels the journey and makes friends with it, the tourist does it for a change. The traveler is there to learn, learn about himself, life, people; to get inspired, to relax and discover himself among the million others. The tourist is looking for a vacation to get out of his routine, to have fun, drink a lot and smoke a joint (not that it's bad and the traveler would not do that but in different circumstances and different implications :)
Me? I'm a traveler for sure, even though I ate french fries in Rio and McDonalds in Singapore, that was a lack of money :P But from all these places, from all their magic, their culture, I became what I am. They are guilty for me having these thoughts, they are responsible for my daily activities, for my reactions to the life around me, they are responsible for me dressing so colorful or wearing such a long hair. They make me smile and cry sometimes, them, the cultures, their traditions and religions. They make me want to walk a lot and spend time with old people. They make me have strong feelings and love my friends so much but not show them.
You? I suggest to you beautiful reader, be a traveler not a tourist, and your life will pay up.

Electricity nahi hai...

...meaning, no electricity. This was one of the first things I've learned when coming first time to India. We use to reach the office in the morning, and the hot weather was taking over the entire building because...there was no electricity, therefore no AC. Not only that, but after some time, I realized even when you stay at home, there are hours when electricity is simply stopped, most probably to save energy, we think :) Zahraa, my friend, did not have such situations in Bombay, so the same thought came into our minds, why do they do this?
Imagine I was in Nagpur, one year and half back, alone at home in evening, in my bathroom, taking a long bucket shower and suddenly, with my hair full of shampoo and eyes closed, I opened them to see...nothing around, complete darkness. For an instant there I thought maybe I went blind and I was slowly starting to panic. Then I've noticed some small lights outside the window and realized that I can still see, just that electricity is...well...on a break. Then I got used to it, I even had candles prepared and my laptop fully charged all the time, in case of any lights drop off. Oh and how many candle light dinners we had, and how many early sleeping night because of this.
Well it seems in Hyderabad the situation is the same. You don't want to know how much it took me to write yesterdays article because, electricity went down during day. So while this is happening, you just wait patiently, in the heating room, with no internet, no TV, no fan, no NOTHING, so that life comes back in your house. Thank God this is a hot country and they don't need heaters in the house, otherwise...I don't want to imagine.
Oh boy how dependent we are to these modern things. What would we do without them?

Indian babe

Someone told me that dreams come true only...if you're living in a dream. Of course I refuse to believe that because I am now, for real, living whatever I was dreaming about. Because dreams do come true, but only when you really believe in them.
So here I am, after one year and a half, back in India, the place that I loved the most from all my journeys till now.
I landed in the city called Hyderabad yesterday morning, here to visit my dear friend Zahraa, who was anxious like a baby to see me again...just like me actually. I flew with Emirates (duh), and as expected I had a great flight, with goodies and nice atmosphere and friendly faces there to serve you anytime.
Hyderabad is a quite big city, bigger than my old Nagpur anyways, all green (comparing to the deserted dubai :))) ) and as I expected, very crowded. Dust is everywhere, cows walk freely on the streets, people walking on the sides of the road, just like I knew it :)
So my Indian adventure started with a long walk in the city, looking guess for what, a damn exchange house. If you can easily find exchanges in any place of the world, here we had to go 30 minutes with an auto ricksha and another 20 minutes walking. Can you imagine! Colors everywhere on the streets, women in sarees walking around, fresh fruit at every corner, fried Indian snacks all the way and lots of cars and bikes. I was just walking around, breaking my neck to catch every part of the world around me, to see every move, every shop, every person passing by. The lovely but tiring day ended with a shopping session in an open kind of park-bazaar and fresh fruit. But the most adventurous experience was the way back from the open market, traveling in the auto ricksha. The traffic went crazy by evening, so besides not being able to bargain to get a good price till home, we found ourselves "squeezed" between ten of cars, bikes, and a huge buss who was about to squish us for a couple of times. Amazingly this never happens, because the ricksha drivers, as crazy and as illegal as they move around, they never get stopped or have accidents. Or at least I never witnessed one, thank God :D
Irrespective of whatever people say or think or imagine about India, I know that this is a place where I will always love to be. And this came clear to me now, when I found myself here for the second time.
Tomorrow new adventures await for us, and after a traditional romanian lunch with polenta and cheese and onions today, and Zahraa wearing traditional romanian clothes (IE), we are ready to go out there once again!
See u laters alligators!

Let's do Yoga

As one of my friend would say...why the hell start Yoga in Romania, when you didn't start it in India...Well because in India I had other priorities and other activities (kind of weird doe) and here in a way because of missing India I started an activity that will bring me closer to the Indian culture, until I get back there of course :D
Do not imagine the kind of Bivolari yoga : ))) with a guru, with rituals that involve urine or animals or whatever else. I'm talking here about Sahaja Yoga, a spiritual Yoga that teaches you how to find yourself through your inner energies. Energies that we ALL have but do not know about them.
You may call me weirdo but I am into these things :D
So here is me, in Libertatii Square, looking at a small poster that was saying about this Sahaja Yoga, with an Indian lady with a bendi on her forehead. One day, one certain hour, free for public (wow), just be there. So I decided to go. And it seems I did good.
Shri Mataji Nirmala Devi is the woman in the poster (of course not this poster). I will not tell about her cause you can find her on wiki. She is the founder of Sahaja Yoga. A good yoga that brings all that's good from you inner:D
The awesome thing is that the sessions are free, precisely because Shri Mataji preached that people should not pay to find themselves, so the women who are holding the sessions do not charge for this. Hoe cool is that? And they are Romanians : )))))
So I went in that room, I've been explained how this yoga helps the person and how do you get to the certain energy, we did a small exercise to see how we feel, an exercise that includes a small meditation, and we saw a movie. Actually in every session we see a movie with Shri Mataji talking to the people, movies that present different speeches she had in the world. And when I say world I mean from Amertica to Asia, cause she is quite famous for this.
Conclusion I kind of like it, I feel good when I'm there, and I also get to listen to old Indian music, which is nice :D

Eat Pray Love

Now you can imagine why I have chosen this movie to write about...Of course you can. Self Discovery.
The art of living a simple, peaceful and happy life by 3 facts. Eating, praying and loving.
So here we have Liz (Julia R) after an unhappy marriage who decides to make a change, therefore going to discover the world. She makes her spirit happy by eating the delicious foods from Italy, praying in the most spiritual land, India, and in the end living a peaceful love story in Indonesia.

Is it possible? Well it seems it is because the movie is based on a real story, real life facts that made someone happy one day. Elizabeth Gilbert, the writer of the book Eat pray love in 2006, told her story, a self discovery story after her hard divorce. The story where she would travel around the world alone, learning an important lesson in each corner. So in one year, Elizabeth Gilbert found her balance in a journey where she enjoyed life by eating, finding her spirituality and praying and balancing everything with a love story.

Eat.
"I felt so guilty, I have been in Rome for 3 weeks and all I've done is learn a few Italian words and eat"
"Sono sola...molto sola" (Liz)

Pray.
"Here's the deal, you're going to stay here until you forget yourself, you hear me? Everything else will take care of itself"
If you could clear out all the space in your mind, you'd have a doorway, and you know what the universe would do? Rush in. Then everything else will take care of itself" (Richard from Texas)

Love.
"You don't need a man Liz, you need a champion"
"Right here is perfect balance, right at meeting of heaven with earth" (Ketut)
"Sometimes when you set out in the world to help yourself, you end up helping tutti" (Liz)

Now after all this, it's time to see the movie, and get ready for your own adventure.

Sonia Oprean (1 an in Filipine-management internship)
Noi suntem calatorii.

Am trait si muncit in India jumatate de an.

Iunia P (1 an in Singapore-management internship)
In acesti doi ani jumate am avut ocazia sa traiesc in Singapore si China si sa calatoresc in tari precum Malaezia, Indonezia, Filipine, Laos, Vietnam… Ce am invatat in Asia? Faptul ca e mai important sa dai tu primul, in loc sa astepti sa primesti primul si sa dai in schimb. Asia mi-a schimbat viata!

Deea R (3 luni in Malaezia voluntariat)

My name is Khan - hindi movie

One extraordinary movie about the conflict with muslim religion. One amazing story about Rizwan Khan, who is not a terorits. How did the happenings from 9/11 changed some muslims life in America, and how wrong people are when judging other people just by their religion or name.
A must see movie, with an unforgetable lesson. A story about people, about prejudices, about religions, about the open mind of a person, about hate and rasism, a story about US.
"There are 2 kind of people in the world: good and bad. There is no other difference."

31. Back in Romania

Concluzia? Inapoi in India cu mine!! :p
Inca nu. Am decis sa mai stau acasa o perioada, sa ma chem patrioata, apoi ... World, here I come again!
"Un an in India (adica jumatate de an in India) - Jurnal de calatorie" a luat sfarit in mod oficial cu aceasta postare. Revenim la banala viata din Timisoara :P

30. Taj Mahal

28. Bombay

27. GOA part III

Fete in fuste scurte, lucitoare, decoltate, dansau, beau, fumau....soc.

End of story.
Noi? All night long till morning light

25. Goa - part I

In compania unei rusoaice, unguroaice si uncrainience, m-am avantat spre plajele fermecatoare din E Indiei.

Intre aceste clase exista desigur preturi medii, pt.

rusian worm who became a buterfly ... in hamacul din fata camerei ;p

To be continued...
